On July 2nd, 2004, The Marine Turtle Conservation Act of 2004 was signed into law. This bill was created to assist in the conservation of marine turtles and the nesting habitats of marine turtles in foreign countries. Species such as loggerhead, green, hawksbill, Kemp's ridley, olive ridley, and leatherback turtles will be helped by this legislation.
