These five classic cookie recipes have something for everyone. They also represent three different cookie-making methods:

There's the drop method, used for making the chocolate-chip and oatmeal raisin cookies; the molded method, used for the making peanut butter cookie recipe; and the rolled method, used for making the sugar cookie and rolled chocolate cookie recipes.

1. Peanut Butter Cookies

With their delicious blend of salty and sweet flavors, peanut butter cookies are always popular. This basic recipe uses the so-called "molded method" because we use a fork to flatten and shape the cookies.

Here's a recipe for sugar cookies that demonstrates the rolled cookie method where the dough is rolled out flat and then the cookies are cut out with cookie cutters.

These basic chocolate chip cookies are made using the "drop" method, because balls of dough are simply dropped onto the baking sheet. This recipe uses semi-sweet chocolate chips and brown sugar for that old-fashioned goodness.
