Former Ft. Worth Congressman has a record of distinguished service

WASHINGTON -- U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX), Texas’ senior senator, today congratulated current Acting Secretary of the Army and former Ft. Worth Congressman Pete Geren on his nomination by President Bush to become the 20th Secretary of the United States Army.

“Pete Geren has a record of distinguished service and will be an exemplary leader for the Army,” Sen. Hutchison said. “I’m proud to congratulate this fellow Texan and dedicated public servant on his nomination.”

Acting Secretary Geren became the 28th Undersecretary of the Army on February 21, 2006, following his nomination by President George W. Bush and confirmation by the United States Senate. As the Undersecretary, Mr. Geren was the Army's No. 2 civilian leader.
