Countries

USAID implements HIV/AIDS programs in more than 50 countries. Under President Bush’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), 15 of these have been identified as focus countries. Specific interventions depend on the nature of the epidemic in a particular country, but generally include multifaceted prevention and care components. USAID is moving rapidly to expand the availability of treatment in many of its country programs.
