Rise of the Argonauts Review (X360)

Tuesday January 13, 2009
Rise of the Argonauts is a promising concept – you can’t go wrong with the stories and characters of Greek mythology – but is dragged down by sub-par graphics, questionable world design, and an agonizingly slow pace. There are flashes of brilliance here and there, and for fans of the mythos it is easier to forgive the flaws because it is just so cool to be able to play through this story and see some of the characters and locations of legend, but it is still flawed and ultimately pretty hard to recommend.

Destroy All Humans! Path of the Furon Review (X360)

Monday January 5, 2009
The original Destroy All Humans was a fairly entertaining romp through classic 1950’s sci-fi clichés where alien probes, mind reading, and pop culture references made for a pretty funny game. It was rather shallow, however, and the jokes and gameplay wore out their welcome surprisingly quickly. That was fine for one game, but here we are a few years and two sequels later and DAH just isn’t interesting anymore. Read our full review of Destroy All Humans: Path of the Furon right here.

The Xbox 360 Games of 2008 - In One Sentence Each

Saturday December 27, 2008
To wrap up our 2008 Xbox 360 Games coverage, we borrowed an idea from NeoGAF where you describe a game with one sentence. Some are funny, some aren’t, but all of them are like super secret inside jokes that no one will understand unless they played that particular game, and that makes it fun. If you have any jokes or ideas about the Xbox 360’s 2008 lineup you’d like to share, send them in (or leave a comment on this blog post) and we might add them to the list. Here are some examples:

Dead Space – Doesn’t this huge basement make the spaceship kind of bottom heavy?
Left 4 Dead – You know you shouldn’t, but you always spook the witch anyway.
LEGO Batman – It isn’t a “Dark Knight” game, but it’ll do for now.

2008 Xbox 360 Special Awards

Friday December 26, 2008
Our Top Ten Xbox 360 Games of 2008 list is out of the way, but the awards don’t stop there. We also have picks for Developer and Publisher of the year, Most Overhyped, Most Underappreciated, and more. We didn’t worry about Best Graphics or Best Music or specific genre awards, however, because those categories would have mirrored our 2008 Top Ten list anyway, so we focused on other categories instead.
