Notice

If you have any questions or concerns regarding these regulations for exporting animals or animal products to a foreign country, you should contact the APHIS-VS Area Office in the State from which the animals or products will be exported.

Suriname - Summary of Requirements

The following protocols for exporting animals to Suriname are available through the International Regulations Retrieval System (IRRS).

SPECIES - MOST RECENT UPDATE

Cattle

Cattle are allowed into Suriname, if with regards to BSE, the shipment is accompanied by an official USDA declaration certifying that the State(s) and farm(s) of origin have been free; i.e., no case of BSE has been diagnosed in either State or farm. Alternatively, We can certify as follows:

1. The bovine animals were born after the date of implementation of the ruminant to ruminant feed ban (August 1997).

2. The bovine animals have been investigated and there is no relationship to any case of BSE.

3. The bovine animals do not originate from a farm that has been affected with BSE nor are they considered animals of interest associated with any case of BSE.

For species not listed, the requirements are not known. However, exporters wanting to ship livestock or germplasm whose requirements are not listed in the IRRS, should have the interested party (importer/buyer) in the country of destination apply for an Import Permit at the appropriate ministry. This Import Permit will most likely outline the specific requirements.
