Cuba - Summary of Requirements

The following protocols for exporting animals to Cuba are available through the International Regulations Retrieval System (IRRS).

SPECIES - MOST RECENT UPDATE

Cattle

Regarding the identification of the animals, the following statement provided by the accredited veterinarian will fulfill the Cuban requirements: "I have been affiliated with (insert name of ranch) Ranch as the herd veterinarian for the past (# of years) years. The (name of ranch) Ranch has been in existence since (year that ranch opened up). To the best of my knowledge, the cattle have been maintained as a closed herd for the past (# of years that cattle have been maintained as a closed herd) years, and the dams of the animals to be shipped were born on the farm.

Sheep and Goats - (bilingual protocol) - February 2006 (pdf 23kb)

Swine (bilingual) - September 2002 (pdf 107kb)

Note: Information about the exportation of agricultural commodities may be found on the following website: http://www.fas.usda.gov/itp/cuba/cuba.html.

For species not listed, the requirements are not known. However, exporters wanting to ship livestock or germplasm whose requirements are not listed in the IRRS, should have the interested party (importer/buyer) in the country of destination apply for an Import Permit at the appropriate ministry. This Import Permit will most likely outline the specific requirements.
