Colombia - Summary of Requirements The following protocols for exporting animals to Colombia are available through the International Regulations Retrieval System (IRRS). Please note: Colombia requires prior approval of installations or farms before
the importation of animals into Colombia, except pet dogs and cats. Below are

Birds Notes "Effective June 12, 2008, due to detection of low pathogenic notifiable avian influenza H7N3 in the State of Arkansas, Colombia has asked APHIS not to endorse for export any health certificates for birds and poultry from the State of Arkansas." "Due to detection of avian influenza H5N8 in Payette County, Idaho, Colombia has asked APHIS not to endorse export any health certificates for birds, poultry and poultry products from the States of Idaho and Oregon"
Sheep Effective December 24, 2003, sheep from the United States are banned due to a risk of BSE

Other Animals
For species not listed, the requirements are not known. However, exporters wanting to ship livestock or germplasm whose requirements are not listed in the IRRS, should have the interested party (importer/buyer) in the country of destination apply for an Import Permit at the appropriate ministry. This Import Permit will most likely outline the specific requirements.
