Community & Occupational Health >> Rural Community Health
Rural residents often have poor health because they lack access to basic health care and healthy foods, work in unsafe settings, or are exposed to farming or industrial chemicals, among other issues. Important health problems in rural areas include chronic diseases, depression, and various cancers. More recently, concern has been raised about the negative health effects of living near concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFO’s).
