Luppold, Ph.D., of the USDA Forest Service Northeastern Research Station - Forestry Sciences Laboratory. In this article, Dr. Luppold examines many of the key issues surrounding the size and loss of sawmills, which has influenced Eastern US hardwood production and that could well play an important role in the future activity of hardwood supply and pricing.
