Haygrove is a 20 year old UK based principally horticultural business. We grow high value crops, develop and sell growing systems, and try to transfer some of the knowledge gained to the Developing World.

Growing

The crops we Grow currently major on organic and conventional berries (~80%), oriental lilies (10%), cherries (~5%), the propagation of fruit plants (~5%), in the UK (60%), South Africa (35%), and Hungary (5%). These total about 250ha and are almost all grown under weather protection of various kinds for quality and reliability. Over 300 full time people are employed.

Growing Systems

The Growing Systems business manufactures and sells step changes in technical innovation in our sector. These are for the most part developed on our farm in response to need. They currently include tunnels of various designs to protect high value crops from increasingly unreliable weather and to collect rainwater; systems for growing crops out of the soil; harvesting machinery; and large but mobile free range poultry houses. We sell in over 30 countries.

Haygrove Development

The skills transfer part of our business Haygrove Development is not for profit and currently centred upon Gambia. We established a produce marketing business in 2002 in partnership with an NGO Concern Universal, to assist local food producers to replace imports and by doing so lift their families out of poverty. Gambia is Good now markets food from over 500 farmers to over 60 Gambian businesses, mainly tourist hotels.
