GIS Training | Service Plan | About the Software | Request Account/Software | Support Services

Managed by CIESIN, the GIS Service Center is dedicated to helping you discover the power of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) in your research and teaching activities.

GIS education, training, and support is offered campus-wide and beyond through the Center's expertise in geospatial technologies, spatial data management, and spatial analysis and modeling techniques. The Center offers:

  • Specialized GIS data sets, such as the NYCMap
  • ESRI/Columbia University Site License Program
For University schools, departments, researchers, and students. Three levels of service, from a stand-alone license to outfitting an entire department or school. Also purchase discounted ESRI software; enroll in discounted ESRI-authorized training sessions and free or discounted online learning modules; and access software documentation and technical support. More information
  • Columbia-GIS mailing list*
at columbia-gis@ciesin.columbia.edu. A forum for GIS-related topics, including GIS products available through CIESIN; with indirect access to ESRI technical support. To subscribe, send an email to: majordomo@listhost.ciesin.columbia.edu
    with the following message body:
            subscribe columbia-gis

The forum is monitored by Columbia GIS Specialists authorized to contact ESRI
directly on technical support issues, but is currently unmoderated. Subscription
required to receive or post messages to the list. Only users with email addresses within Columbia domains will be admitted.

Below are some GIS quick links to resources at CIESIN, Columbia University, and in the NY metro area:
