In August 2007 the longhorn beetle Eburodacrys elegantula was introduced to Vienna with liana for terraristic equipment. And in autumn 2007, many American Dock leaf bugs Leptoglossus occidentalis were detected near buildings.

The Asian Longhorned Beetle (Anoplophora glabripennis), a dangerous insect pest, was detected in July 2001 on a location in Braunau/Inn (Upper Austria), where it infested several maple trees. This is the first time that this beetle was found in Europe.
