Challenge Cost Share

Challenge Cost Share is a program offering federal funding, to be matched 50/50, for preservation and interpretation/education projects along El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro National Historic Trail.

Applying for project funding

Don't be frightened by the forms! Instructions are provided, and help is available from staff at the National Trail System-Intermountain office in Santa Fe.

The submission deadline is March 2, 2009, for FY09 (October 1, 2008 through September 30, 2009). Contact our office to discuss your project prior to submitting your completed proposal.

Did You Know?
Brought to the New World by Spaniards, horses first arrived in New Mexico in 1598. For years afterward, many more horses were brought in via El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro. Indian tribes captured thousands of them, which were dispersed across the plains and integrated into American Indian culture.
