PRESS RELEASE
Smithsonian Journeys Offers New Gift Certificates
Dec. 19, 2008

Smithsonian Journeys has introduced a new Travel Gift Certificate that can be purchased in increments of $100—with $300 as a minimum value—and applied toward any Smithsonian journey. Smithsonian’s Travel Gift Certificates can be presented for the holidays or any other occasion including birthdays, retirements and graduations.

Travelers can explore “The Island World of Indonesia,” newly added for October 2009, aboard the expedition cruiser Orion, with an additional $1,000 savings on all cabins through Feb. 14, 2009. This tour dives into the culturally diverse archipelago of Indonesia with stops highlighting traditional crafts, archaeology and the infamous Komodo dragons and Krakatau Island.

For those who want to recapture their ancestral heritage, Smithsonian offers the new

small-group tour “Discovering Eastern Europe.” Limited to 24 travelers, participants uncover the history and culture of Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria and the Czech Republic. Departing in June, August and September, there is a special price reduction of $400 for all dates.

Travel Gift Certificates can be purchased exclusively by calling toll-free, 1 (877) EDU-TOUR (1 (877) 338-8687). Gift Certificates are nontransferable, nonrefundable and have no cash value. Smithsonian Journeys’ terms and conditions apply to all travel arrangements purchased with the Gift Certificate. A sample can be found at the Journeys’ Web site www.SmithsonianJourneys.org.
