Description: Holds individual network evening news broadcasts from the major American national broadcast networks: ABC, CBS, NBC, and CNN. Covers national and international events along with special reports and periodic news broadcasts covering presidential press conferences and political campaign coverage. The Library of Congress Motion Picture, Broadcasting and Recorded Sound Division (MBRS) holds analog videotape copies of complete newscasts from 1968-July 2003. Digital versions are available from August 2003-present. In addition, Vanderbilt is rapidly digitizing its retrospective holdings from 1968-2003. Broadcasts from the years 1968-1979 have already been digitized and are available, with additional years being digitized on a regular basis.

Search the TV-NewsSearch Database from any of the LC Reading Rooms for headlines and abstracts at the story level of regular evening news programs. In addition to keyword searching, you can make selections according to network, date, reporter, and program type.

Viewing of actual broadcasts provided only in the Motion Picture and Television Reading Room (LM-338).
