January 2009 Assistive Technology Day - The Center for Information Technology Accommodation, CITA, will host an Assistive Technology Day event on January 15, 2009 in the GSA, Central Office, Room 1216 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (demonstrations are one hour long and repeated each hour ending at 3 p.m.) Freedom Scientific will be at GSA to demonstrate the latest innovations in access technology. Learn about the new features of JAWS 10, including JAWS Tandem, which is great for end users as well as trainers, support personnel, and software developers. You will also be able to get your hands on the SAPPHIRE, the latest addition to the Freedom Scientific line of portable video magnifiers. Also, find out what's new in MAGic, PAC Mate, and OpenBook. The TOPAZ and ONYX video magnifiers will also be available for a hands on experience.

Section 508 requires that Federal agencies' electronic and information technology is accessible to people with disabilities. IT Accessibility & Workforce Division, in the U.S. General Services Administration's Office of Governmentwide Policy, has been charged with the task of educating Federal employees and building the infrastructure necessary to support Section 508 implementation. Using this web site, Federal employees and the public can access resources for understanding and implementing the requirements of Section 508.
