estimate for 2002 was based on data collected from January through June.

From January through June 2002, 6.3% (95% CI =
5.6%-7.0%) of adults aged 65 years and over needed help with personal care
from other persons.

There was no significant trend in the annual
percent of adults who needed help with personal care from other persons
(6.6% in 1997, 6.3% in 1998, 6.4% in 1999, 6.3% in 2000, and 6.5% in 2001).
