Course Information
Course ID:
SW2016TC

No. Instruction Hours:
Course Description:
This 5-day course is intended to provide fundamentals and describe basic techniques available for determining resistance to flow and sediment transport, primarily in sand channel stream. Exercises will be conducted using a mathematical model of sediment transport and scour, fill, and bottom sediment composition accounting for networks of one-dimensional channels. The model is useful for predicting erosion and deposition in channels with narrow reseviors after dam removal, for certain bridge scour situations, and for general sediment routing problems. It is accessed from a Windows-PC graphical user interface. Lectures are oriented towards explanation of processes simulated by the model.
Course Title:
Alluvial Channel Hydraulics and Sediment Transport
Attendees:
This is intended as an introductory course in physical processes and is oriented towards those individuals who may be initiating studies in surface-water, geomorphology, and sediment transport or who may use the physical system as a frame of reference for studies in water chemistry and biology.
Course Discipline:
Surface-Water Hydrology Courses

None
