A Word on Being a Mentor

Young women who are wavering about their career choices, or girls who have not even reached that point yet, can often be strongly influenced by a positive role model. Take a few minutes to ask the girls and young women in your life about their interests and goals, and let them see what you are doing in your career. Invite them for a visit at work, and give them some exposure to your interests. Once they realize that science and medicine are done by women who were once like them, they may just decide to give science a chance or to keep going in their pursuit of science.
