IRRI Rice Thesaurus debuts on USDA website

Click to read story To help people who do rice research, IRRI developed the Rice Thesaurus, a searchable electronic database consisting of more than 3,200 standard terms pertaining to rice and related subjects. The thesaurus is used by information providers as a source of controlled vocabularies for the subject description of books, journal articles, conference papers and other information sources.

Click to read story “Scuba rice” that can survive more than two weeks under water can now be planted by farmers to improve rice yields on flood-prone land in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh where the variety Swarna-Sub1 has been officially approved, and the word is other states will follow suit soon. Earlier this week, Swarna-Sub1 was approved in Orissa state. Rice Today’s April-June 2009 edition features the remarkable development of the submergence-tolerant rice.
