Certified Nature Explore Classrooms are fun, interactive, and safe areas where children develop important connections with nature.

Nature Explore Certification Standards

When you apply for Nature Explore Classroom certification, we will ask you to provide visual and written documentation that shows how your outdoor space and nature education program follow the three certification standards presented in the Learning With Nature Idea Book:

  1. Well-Designed Outdoor Space. We’ll ask you to show us how the Ten Guiding Principles were used in the design of new spaces or in the redesign of existing spaces.
  2. Staff Development. Simply tell us who on your staff has attended a full-day Nature Explore Workshop and where the workshop was held.
  3. Family Involvement. We’ll also ask you to send us examples and descriptions of materials and activities you have used to increase ongoing family awareness and involvement in nature education.

Certification is awarded annually and is available to any school or organization with an outdoor classroom and nature education program. View the complete details of the standards for certification.
