Gathering at NAL to announce NCLIS Health Award for Libraries

BELTSVILLE, MD, May 2, 2005--The National Agricultural Library co-hosted a special gathering of library and health professionals, including chief officers of state library agencies from across the U.S. and its territories. Arranged by the U.S. National Commission on Libraries and Information Science (NCLIS), the gathering recognized state library leaders for their commitment to health communication and literacy. NAL Director Peter Young welcomed the gathering. During the event, NCLIS Chairman Dr. Beth Fitzsimmons and NCLIS Commissioner Mary H. Perdue announced the NCLIS Health Award for Libraries initiative, providing national recognition for libraries that excel in providing health information and promoting healthy lifestyles.
