The Pacific Northwest Regional Interagency Fire Cache (Warehouse) is located at the Redmond Air Center with satellite locations in East Wenatchee, Washington and LaGrande, Oregon and serves the Bureau of Land Management, Oregon Department of Forestry, Bureau of Indian Affairs, Washington Department of Natural Resources, and Forest Service. The Redmond Cache is one of eleven national caches serving assigned geographical areas. The primary mission of the cache is to provide timely, cost effective logistical support to any Federal, State, and designated cooperators in the Pacific Northwest for wildland fires, floods, earthquakes, other natural disasters, and other homeland security issues. Additionally, it has a national mission of responding to the logistical needs of other national caches, geographic areas, or other on going incidents. Inventory value at the stocking level is approximately 11 million dollars and represents 1600 different items, including first aid kits, firefighting hand tools, chain saws, sleeping bags, communications equipment, fire hoses, nozzles, specialized aerial delivery support items and mechanized equipment such as pumps, generators, etc. In the fire related area, the cache (all three sites) maintains tools and equipment for 6,000 firefighters. Shipments are made directly to large fires by commercial freight trucks,
commercial aircraft, or by support staff in Government vehicles.
