PEPNet-West

PEPNet-West (formerly WROCC), has a new name-but our wealth of experience in our field remains the same. Since 1996 we have been providing resources and expertise that advance educational opportunities for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing in the postsecondary setting.

PENet-West regional mapOur region is a vast geographic area reaching from the Republic of Palau to Alaska to New Mexico. Demographics range from America's second-largest city to rural areas with populations of less than one person per square mile. The region includes Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming, American Samoa, Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Republic of Palau.

The variety of geography, culture and languages in our region may seem overwhelming, but we have found that the core issues in advancing educational opportunities for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing are the same throughout the region.

Funding for PEPNet-West's third five-year grant cycle was approved in 2006 and we will continue to be housed at the National Center on Deafness at California State University at Northridge. In the new cycle we are expanding our collaboration with other regions, merging our collective experience and expertise into a single, accessible knowledge base. Whether you access PEPNet-West via the web or in person at our outreach sites, best practices information is available to advance educational opportunities for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing including those with co-occurring disabilities. The outreach site link will take you to our network of outreach specialists.
