Governing Board Chair Christoph Häuser welcomed the ICZN in his letter of 5 July, noting that GBIF is looking forward to intensively co-operating with the ICZN on matters of mutual interest.
The Codes of Nomenclature are natural partners in the development of the Electronic Catalogue of Names of Known Organisms that is so critical to the smooth functioning of GBIF's information architecture.
GBIF would welcome the other organisations that govern the other Codes as well, and hopes that they will soon follow the lead of ICZN and also join GBIF.
