SAFRINET recently joined ASEANET and EASIANET, as well as BioNET International, as an Associate Participant in GBIF, effective 23 July 2003. SAFRINET (southern African network) includes all African countries from the Democratic Republic of Congo and Tanzania south to South Africa and east to Madagascar. Governing Board Chair Christoph Häuser welcomed SAFRINET and invited its delegation to attend GB7 in Japan in October.
