Subject: INV - Monitoring - Master Schedule for Water Year 2009 Snow Surveys

To: All Field Offices and Attached List

Purpose: To advise affected offices of the 2009 Snow Survey Measurement Schedule.

Expiration Date: September 30, 2009.

Enclosed is a master schedule of the 2009 Snow Surveys. There are a few changes from last season.

Survey data should be FAXed to the Snow Survey Office when convenient after the survey is completed. The FAX numbers are 406-587-6930 or 406-587-6761.

The original notes need to be mailed directly to the Snow Survey at the following address. Self-addressed envelopes, mailing tubes, or snow note forms are available upon request.

Late measurements should be telephoned or e-mailed to the Snow Survey Office personnel, reporting the date of survey, average snow depth, average water content, and snow pillow data:

If a survey cannot be completed during the scheduled timeframe, please notify the Snow Survey staff listed above.

If snow-sampling equipment needs repair, arrangements should be made with the Snow Survey Office as soon as possible. Enclosed is a sample set inventory form. Please fill out and return the form to the Snow Survey Office. Likewise, if training is needed for new surveyors who will not be able to attend the Westwide School, arrange for training with Scott Oviatt, Data Collection Office Supervisor, Bozeman, Montana, at 406-587-6844.

This year’s Westwide Snow Survey Training School will be held January 11-16, 2009, at Granlibakken Resort, Lake Tahoe, Tahoe City, California.  If you or your snow surveyors plan to attend and have not received a separate letter regarding the school, please contact Scott Oviatt.
