ACR AMA Young Physician Section Delegate Needed

The ACR is looking for a young physician that is interested in providing an additional voice for rheumatology at the American Medical Association. The physician selected would need to attend the Young Physician Section of the American Medical Association House of Delegates meeting. The meetings are twice a year in June and November. If you are interested please fill out an application.

Applications are due by May 19th.


Pediatric Rheumatology Residents Program at the ACR/ARHP Annual Scientific Meeting

The Section on Pediatric Rheumatology of the American College of Rheumatology is again proud to offer the Pediatric Rheumatology Residents Program at the ACR/ARHP Annual Scientific Meeting. Nominations are now being accepted online.


“Red Flags” Rule Delayed Until Aug. 1!

As a result of AMA advocacy, physician practices now have until Aug. 1 to comply with the Federal Trade Commission’s “red flags” rule, which requires physicians to institute policies to identify, detect and respond to potential risks of identity theft.

The rule originally was to have taken effect on May 1, but the FTC voted on April 30 to delay the compliance date for three months. This extended time will be used to influence the FTC and Congress that physicians are not “creditors” and therefore should not be subject to the rule.

Applications for A&R Editor (2010-2015 Term) Now Available

The American College of Rheumatology Committee on Journal Publications announces the search for the position of Editor, Arthritis & Rheumatism. Click here to download an application and supporting materials.

The official term of the next Arthritis & Rheumatism editorship is July 1, 2010–June 30, 2015; however, some of the duties of the new Editor will begin during a transition period starting April 1, 2010. ACR members who are considering applying should submit a letter of intent to the Managing Editor, Jane Diamond, at , and are also encouraged to contact the current Editor, Dr. Michael Lockshin, to discuss details; initial contact should be made via e-mail to . Potential applicants should be aware that there is flexibility regarding the model of interaction between the Editor’s institution and the ACR. Applications are due June 1, 2009 and will be reviewed during the summer of 2009.
