Steering Committee for Lawns & Environment

The Steering Committee for Lawns & Environment is a consortium of organizations including EPA, CSREES, the Audubon Society, and others providing information to the public for their use in making informed choices to reduce pesticide use and practice more environmentally sustainable programs to maintain their lawns.

As an active, invited member of the committee, a CSREES National Program Leader (NPL) provides advice and recommendations on policy documents. These are then coordinated with the Extension Master Gardener specialist in each state.

Additionally, CSREES participates in planning the National Lawns and the Environment Conference, most recently held March 15-17, 2004, in San Antonio, TX. We bring the state extension faculty into the planning, editing, and early implementation stages of this project to foster their participation.
