Here’s How the Contest Works!
1. Mail new member’s name, contact information and $8 (payable
to NCAGC) to Carole Butler,
1508 Auburn Avenue, Rockville, MD 20850.
2. The Garden Club with the largest membership increase, percentage wise (starting
5/31/08, ending 6/1/09) WINS the $100 cash! So, if your Club had 30 members at the end of May 2008 and you recruited 3 new members between June 1, 2008 and May 31, 2009; membership in your Club increased 10%.
3. The Garden Club with largest membership increase, percentage wise, wins the $100 cash, and NCAGC will have a good chance of winning the National Garden Clubs’ national membership contest prize of having a new Canna cultivar named for it.
Ideas For Growing New Members
· Publicize (with pictures) your Garden Club’s activities in your local newspapers.
· Create a simple brochure with the name of your Garden Club, contact name and information, as well as time/ place/dates of your meetings and featured programs.
· Leave copies of your newsletter (filled horticultural tips) or your simple brochure at libraries, garden centers, on bulletin boards at grocery stores and churches, and with local realtors.
· Leave your simple brochure or newsletter
at especially nice home gardens, with a personal invitation to attend your next garden club meeting.
· Invite prospects to your meeting, and ask them to join.
