angiostatin
(AN-jee-oh-STA-tin)
A protein normally made by the body. It can also be made in the laboratory, and is being studied in the treatment of cancer. Angiostatin may prevent the growth of new blood vessels needed for tumors to grow. It is a type of angiogenesis inhibitor.
