National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.
This is an annual call for projects for the initiative entitled Pulling Together: A Public/Private Partnership for Invasive and Noxious Plant Management to be funded through a partnership program between the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (Foundation) and the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Bureau of Reclamation (BOR), Department of Defense (DOD), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), National Park Service (NPS), Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), and USDA-Forest Service (FS). The deadline to receive proposals is Nov 6, 2001.
Graduate Research Fellowship Program
DOC. NOAA. National Estuarine Research Reserve System.
The National Estuarine Research Reserve System's GRF program produces high quality research focused on improving coastal management while providing students with the opportunity to contribute to research and monitoring at a reserve. As part of the Reserve System, each National Estuarine Research Reserve provides opportunities for students to address research questions and estuarine management issues of local, regional and national significance. GRF funds support management related research projects that enhance scientific understanding of the Reserve System ecosystem, provide information needed by reserve managers and coastal decision-makers, and improve public awareness and understanding of estuarine ecosystems and management issues. The application deadline for 2002 fellowships is Nov 1, 2001.

The Oregon State Weed Board (OSWB) has approximately 1 million dollars that will become available during the 2001-2003 biennium for funding noxious weed control grant projects. Applications due Aug 10, 2001.
NOAA Ballast Water Treatment Program and Lake Champlain Canal Barrier Initiative
Sea Grant and the USFWS are seeking innovative projects to improve ballast water treatment and management in the Chesapeake Bay and the Great Lakes in particular (Sea Grant), and in U.S. coastal and Great Lakes waters in general (Service). Sea Grant is also seeking projects that will develop techniques to reduce the transport of invasive species through the Lake Champlain Canal. Proposals are due Jul 24, 2001.
Exotic Pests and Diseases Research Program: Request for New Proposals 2001

The University of California Center for Invasive Species Research and the Statewide IPM Project are soliciting new proposals for developing and promoting basic and applied research and extension programs related to exotic pests and diseases found in agricultural, urban or natural environments in California. California weed research grants, Sb 1740 Research Proposal
The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) is now requesting research proposals from qualified research entities to perform research on the biology, ecology, or management of noxious and invasive weeds. Proposed research projects must be needs-based, applied and practical. Proposals must be received at the CDFA Contracts Office no later than 3:00 PM on May 22, 2001.
Aquatic Nuisance Species Program Proposal Development: Request for Proposals for FY 2001
The National Sea Grant office has just posted notice of an upcoming funding initiative on ANS research and outreach. Approximately $2.8 million per year is available for FY 2001 and 2002. Preliminary proposals are due Apr 4, 2001.
Initiative for Future Agriculture & Food Systems (IFAFS)
USDA. Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service.
A grant project of the USDA's Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service, this supports research, extension, and education across topic areas defined in Section 401 of the Agricultural Research, Extension, and Education Reform Act of 1998. Approximately $113 million in grant money is available. According to sections 14.1-2, "this program will consider projects that address aspects of invasive species from discovery of novel means to detect, monitor, and manage invasive species to outreach and education activities that promote public awareness of invasive species. Proposals may address the prevention of introductions, as well as, the detection, monitoring, or management of existing invasive species. Proposals that develop mitigation plans to restore the biodiversity of native species and habitats negatively affected by invasive species are also encouraged." Deadlines: Mar 23, 2001 and Apr 23, 2001.
USEPA Great Lakes National Program Office - FY 2001-2002 Request for Preproposals
Environmental Protection Agency.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is now soliciting proposals on Great Lakes projects related to contaminated sediments, pollution prevention, ecological protection and restoration, invasive species, and indicator development. The deadline for submissions is Feb 16, 2001.
