The ODTG recommended that GBIF must provide ‘resource discovery’, extend Darwin core schema to facilitate access to deeply-structured data, and encourage participation of increasing numbers of data publishers by improving data use ability. The MRTG offers recommendations addressing social and technical issues and long-term strategies for mobilising multimedia resources that have potential to be used as ‘primary biodiversity records’. Both the ODTG and the MRTG recommend that GBIF Participants encourage the establishment of national, regional and thematic data repositories. The GBIF Secretariat will review these sets of recommendations for their uptake. Together with the official response of the Secretariat, these recommendations will be shared with GBIF Participants for their responses.
