The annual GBIF budget only gives a partial picture of the total costs for operating the Secretariat.

According to the Institutional Host Agreement for 2007-2011, the University of Copenagen will continue (as it has since late 2001) to pay for a significant part of the Secretariat’s infrastructure costs and capital expenditures. These include the ongoing costs of office space, heating, electricity, cleaning, telephones, computers, office software and supplies, postage, administrative services, financial management, etc.

Because of this significant host contribution, the vast majority of the GBIF budget and the activities of its staff can be directed towards the development and implementation of the Work Programme and the informaton infrastructure of GBIF.

The Secretariat appreciates and looks forward to the University's support of GBIF's activities over the coming years.
