This event will take place at the National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI), in Lucknow, India, 25-27 January 2006. After the workshop, the attendees will know how to access biodiversity data through GBIF, how to become GBIF data providers (using DiGIR and other technologies), how to mobilize biodiversity data and establish national networks. This workshop is aimed at project leaders and senior researchers with good scientific and technical understanding of biodiversity data and information and with experience in building collaborative networks. Ideal attendees are national data coordinators and IT managers of natural history collections, environmental agencies, and other groups in possession of and handling biodiversity data, including data that comes from biodiversity-related surveys.
Financial support for travel costs is available normally for one attendee from each country in the region. In order to be eligible, apply by submitting this application form by e-mail to training@gbif.org or fax it to +45-35321480 by 30 October 2005, latest. GBIF will send an invitation letter to successful applicants by 10 November 2005.
We do not have a strict definition
of "South-Asia", so people from most countries
in that general area including South-East Asia are welcome to apply.
