A data set of observations (on a 10x10 km scale) of Orthoptera (grasshoppers, groundhoppers, crickets, bushcrickets), earwigs (Dermaptera) and cockroaches (Blattaria) in the Netherlands during the period 1800-2002 has been made available through GBIF. The data come from the European Invertebrate Survey (EIS-NL).

The data are hosted by ETI and provided to GBIF through its Dutch node, NL-BIF.

Observational datasets comprise a source of information different from, but no less useful than, data associated with specimen collections. GBIF is very glad to have data providers such as the EIS-NL share their data via the GBIF portal.
