GBIF is pleased to announce its call for pre-proposals to establish academic chairs under the GBIF/UNESCO Chairs in Biodiversity Informatics initiative. This new capacity building pursuit constitutes a valuable mechanism to provide training to individuals in developing countries. It aims at fostering a new generation of outstanding experts in biodiversity informatics with the establishment of curricula at the university level and the issuing of master's and Ph.D degrees. This program also allows for biodiversity informatics research activities within an academic realm.
