The GBIF Secretariat has moved to its new building, including a new computer room with powerful servers, and is getting ready to move on with its Internet services.

After a test period of several months, and input and feedback from many of you, we are launching our new communications portal as our main web site http://www.gbif.org/.

The old web site will remain accessible through a link on the communications portal, but only until May. However, the old site will no longer be updated. All relevant material has been carried over to the portal from the old site.

The communications portal is a collaborative site where users can submit content such as news, events, and articles, propose links, etc. Submissions are made through interactive forms, and will be handled by the Secretariat Webmaster Team and placed in an appropriate area on the portal. There are also several discussion areas connected to CIRCA mailing lists. We hope that this new portal will enable the Secretariat to operate a lively website, and also help us to develop more data-intensive services in the near future.

We here at the Secretariat hope that you and everyone else will find the new portal useful and interesting. Visit it often to see updates and additions!

Please send your comments and suggestions to GBIF Webmaster. If you need any assistance, contact GBIF Helpdesk.
