GBIF has been using the CIRCA group collaboration system now for a few months. During that time several bug fixes and improvements have been made. Here is a short summary of them:

  • Duplicate emails on mailing lists have largely been eliminated. This used to be a problem when multiple roles were members of an Interest Group. If a person had multiple roles, also the emails were duplicate.
  • In email service, the mailing lists available for the Interest Group are now listed in the pulldown menus.
  • A nasty email bug that scrambled attachments sent to mailing lists has been eliminated. This bug appeared when ZMUC email server was upgraded to Microsoft Exchange 2000. The mail server added new mail headers that had not been tested before. Btw., CIRCA has been tested to work with about 10 different most popular email clients and is compliant with the RFC.
  • Formatting of messages that have been archived in newsgroups has been improved. However, no attempts have been made or will be made to fix "Microsoft HTML" that Outlook sends.
  • In Interest Group Diretory clicking on details of roles on the green line now takes the user to the full role page without "&act=view" function.
  • It is now possible to refer to the latest version of the document simply by omitting the version and language from the URL.
If you see any unexpected behaviour or have suggestions for better functionality, let webmaster@gbif.org know.
