These reports will, amongst other requirements be used to provide updates on national progress towards the achievement of the 2010 Biodiversity Target (http://www.cbd.int/2010-target/), as well as to contribute to the third edition of the Global Biodiversity Outlook (http://www.cbd.int/gbo/).

The GBIF Secretariat developed a focussed document and tutorial on how primary biodiversity data such as those made accessible by the GBIF network of countries and organisations constitute a valuable information source for countries when compiling their CBD national reports.
