  • WILDLIFE HABITAT COUNCIL RECEIVES $50,000 FROM MONSANTO FUND
    SILVER SPRING, MD - The Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) today announced it has received $50,000 from the Monsanto Fund, a private foundation and the philanthropic arm of Monsanto Company, to establish an on-line learning community to link hundreds of WHC Wildlife at Work teams as they establish wildlife habitat enhancement projects and site-based learning programs through the Council.
  • Wildlife Habitat Council Symposium Recognizes Value of Voluntary Corporate Efforts in Biodiversity
    The Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC), an environmental non-profit organization founded 20 years ago by conservation organizations and corporations, finished its 20th anniversary two-day symposium, putting the spotlight on a voluntary "beyond compliance" corporate engagement model at a time when a new incoming White House administration will be reexamining the balance of compliance and voluntary programs in order to achieve environmental goals. Corporate members of the Wildlife Habitat Council today are voluntary stewards to close to 500 wildlife habitats involving over 2.4 million acres in 17 countries, helping to preserve species and strengthen biodiversity.

    About 25 students who are members of Edgewood Middle School's SEA (Student Environment Awareness) Club are going to be presenters at a "Bird Festival" at the 20th Annual Symposium, 20/20 Vision: Celebrating the Past, Looking to the Future, of the Wildlife Habitat Council.

  • Dow Wetlands Preserve in Antioch to Receive Prestigious Signature of Sustainability
    The Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) will be at the Dow Wetlands Preserve on Monday, May 12 to present The Dow Chemical Company (Dow) with a new designation - the Signature of Sustainability. Dow is one of only a dozen corporations nationwide to receive this recognition.
  • Monsanto Company Receives Signature of Sustainability Designation
    Monsanto Company's Big Sand Mound Nature Preserve was recognized as a Signature of Sustainability by the Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) for its employees' outstanding commitment to biodiversity and conservation education. The Big Sand Mound Nature Preserve was one of only 21 WHC certified programs to receive this designation.
