All Live Softwood Tree Biomass per Acre of Timberland, 2002

Description

This map shows the spatial distribution of all live softwood tree biomass per acre of timberland in tons per acre of timberland by county. On average, by county, there are 9 tons of softwood biomass per acre of timberland.


Use this map only to identify broad spatial trends. At the time of
assessment, data were not available for interior Alaska, the Pacific Basin, Puerto
Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, and a small number of counties in the lower 48 states.

Definitions:

Biomass is defined as the total aboveground, ovendry weight for live sample trees 1.0 inch diameter or larger, including all tops and limbs (excluding foliage).
