Get to Know Audubon's Public Policy Office

Audubon's members have a long tradition of making their communities and homes friendly places for birds and other animals. To help make their voices heard in the nation's capital, members turn to Audubon's public policy office in Washington, D.C. The office houses our dedicated team of advocates, experts, grassroots outreach and communications staff.

Since 2005, the office has been led by Betsy Loyless, Audubon Senior Vice President for Policy. A long-time conservation leader, she served as Vice President for Policy and Lobbying at the League of Conservation Voters, the non-partisan political voice of the national environmental movement. As V.P., she was responsible for the organization’s lobbying campaigns and accountability programs. During her 12 years at LCV, she also served as Political Director. Before that, Ms. Loyless served as the Deputy Political Director of the Sierra Club in Washington, D.C. for 5 years. She presently serves as a volunteer leader on the board of the Maryland League of Conservation Voters, and the Alaska Wilderness League and as a charter member of the Capitol Hill Rotary Club.

Ms. Loyless and the rest of the policy team can be contacted at: Audubon Public Policy Office, 1150 Connecticut Ave, NW, Suite 600, Washington, D.C., 20036. Telephone: 202-861-2242. Fax: 202-861-4290. Email us at
