West National Technology Support Center

The West National Technology Support Center (WNTSC) for the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is located in Portland, OR. The staff members include a Core Team of technical disciplines specialists, and three technology teams assigned to lead NRCS’ acquisition and/or development of science-based technology for prescribed special emphasis areas in natural resources conservation. The technology teams located at the West National Technology Support Center are Energy, Air Quality and Atmospheric Change and Water Quality and Quantity.

The Core Team consists of a team of technical disciplines responsible for providing direct technical assistance and technology transfer primarily to the states serviced by the WNTSC area.

The NRCS Air Quality and Atmospheric Change Technology Development Team works closely with other NRCS technical specialists and policy makers, as well as representatives from other Federal, State, University, and private organizations to provide agricultural air quality technology and information to NRCS personnel nationwide, as well NRCS partners and the general public.

National technical specialists that develop and deliver cutting edge technology tools and training to address natural resource concerns related to hydrology and hydraulics, agronomy including nutrient management, pest management and soil erosion, irrigation water management, agricultural drainage, salinity, and stream restoration.
