Agreements between the City of Chicago, the State of Illinois, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services

On March 17, 2006 HHS Secretary Mike Leavitt, Governor Rod R. Blagojevich, and Mayor Richard M. Daley signed Planning Resolutions detailing HHS', Illinois', and Chicago's shared and independent responsibilities for pandemic planning.


Federal Help for Illinois Planning

Illinois received $2,878,268 in phase one funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to use for pandemic planning activities; Chicago received $1,197,706. Illinois received additional funds of $6,975,164 and Chicago received $2,371,858 from the revised phase two of Health and Human Services’ local and state allocations. A supplemental $2,249,832 for Illinois and a supplemental $836,685 for Chicago were awarded to help strength the state's and Chicago's capacity to respond to a pandemic influenza outbreak. These grants are based on a formula adjusted for population.

State Activities
