Description |
|||||
This database about Cerambycidae or Longicorns (Disteniidae included),is updated by Gérard Tavakilian and Hervé Chevillotte.) It contains all the Cerambycid-species recorded from American Continent. A check-list is related with its synonyms and information about flight period,host-plants,parasites,phoretics,predators and mimetics are given. Different levels can be consulted : tribes, genera, species, types, synonyms and bibliographic references. We started an extension to the other continents, thus for Europe, we only have a Check-list of the valid taxa. The other regions are partially treated. The final aim is to obtain a world-wide check-list in a short while. |

Computer-aided Identification of Phlebotomine sandlies of Americas DataBase |
The CIPA database includes information on the taxonomy, nomenclature, bibliography, epidemiology, geographic distribution and ecology of 418 species of sandflies (Insecta, Diptera, Psychodidae, Phlebotominae). These blood-sucking insects are important from the medical and veterinary point of view as vectors in the transmission of various illnesses, e.g. leishmaniasis, bartonellosis, arboviruses. The database and an interactive identification system are parts of an international project, Computer Aided Identification of Phlebotomine sandflies of the Americas, involving a scientific network with experts from 9 countries. CIPA was supported by the Program for Science and Technology Cooperation, Office of the Science Advisor, USA; by the Agency for International Development, and by the Scientific and Technical Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, France. |

Taxonomic list of Fulgoromorpha of the world : names and taxa with associated biological information Objectives of the FLOW Project are to preserve and to organize the systematics expertise already acquired and to facilitate and to promote fundamental or applied researchs in Fulgoromorpha. FLOW is an on-line database on planthoppers (Hemiptera, Fulgoromorpha). Its goal is to allow entomologists and other interested people an easy access to a synthesis of available biological published data on this group. In the future, FLOW will provide an up-to-date database on Fulgoromorpha taxonomy, with referenced informations about their morphology (project FAME (Fulgoromorpha Anatomy and Morphology Exploration), molecular data, etho-ecology (including photos) and biogeography. |

A Global Plant Checklist, encompassing about 300,000 vascular plant species and over 1,000,000 names, is the first priority. Eventually, the Checklist will include nonvascular plants (mosses, lichens, algae, and liverworts). This GSD provides only data about the following 6 families: Casuarinaceae, Irvingiaceae, Cycadales, Juncaceae, Magnoliaceae, Rosaceae |

The global plant family checklists are compiled at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Each family checklist aims to provide the correct scientific name and includes all known published and accepted species and infraspecific taxa with their synonyms. They include the global distribution both in a narrative form as the Botanical country codes as defined by the Taxonomic Databases Working Group. Pertinent nomenclatural and other comments as well as life-forms are included. The aim is to cover all Monocots and selected families of Dicots by 2006. |

The Tineidae - the clothes-moth family - comprises almost 3000 named species of medium-sized to small moths. This database gives the current applicable name for each of these species, and information as to where, when and by whom each was described, and where the original specimen(s) (type specimens(s)) came from. |

The superfamily Chalcidoidea belongs to the insect order Hymenoptera (bees, ants and wasps). Currently about 22,000 species have been described and catalogued. Most species are less than 3mm in length, averaging 1.5mm with the smallest about 0.11mm (Mymaridae: Dicopomorpha echmepterygis Male). Their small size can make them extremely difficult to collect and study and, as a result, they have received comparatively little attention from taxonomists. Had it not been for their importance as parasitoids of insect pests, the group would have received even less attention. Yet evidence from the British fauna and detailed work in tropical America suggests that perhaps up to 10% of all insect species may belong to the Chalcidoidea. Equating this to well-studied insect groups such as beetles, moths and butterflies would suggest that had the Chalcidoidea been as popular with collectors and taxonomists of these groups in the past, the current number could well be in excess of 100,000 species. Recent estimates suggest that there may be more than 500,000 species in existence. |

MolluscaFW (a World Checklist of Freshwater Mollusca) endeavours to provide searchable taxonomic status data on all the world?s Recent freshwater molluscs. It stores nearly 4500 accepted species-level taxa with over 3100 synonyms from more than 60 molluscan families, and includes brackish-water taxa that are sometimes excluded from conventional treatments. Most existing information on freshwater mollusc faunas is based at a regional level. We have taken data from authorative published sources and made them accessible through this single point of contact. |
