Grazing

Grazing on Public LandsUtah BLM manages 1,472 grazing allotments covering 21.9 million acres of BLM land in Utah. Grazing use of these allotments is authorized through 1,532 grazing permits. Many of Utah’s allotments are “common” allotments. Approximately 1.2 million AUMs of livestock use are authorized under these permits, which is less than normal as ranch operations are still recovering from drought conditions in 2000 through 2004. BLM – Utah’s range program is currently focused on monitoring and Standards assessment related to permit renewal.
