Chefs A’Field: Culinary Adventures That Begin on the Farm

farmer and chef together in farm field Chefs A' Field is a multi-season, nationally distributed television series that explores the critical relationship between great chefs and local farmers. The award-winning public television program features the talents of the nation's most acclaimed chefs -- and the farmers who supply them with ultra-fresh ingredients that are superior in taste, nutrition, and cost. The half-hour programs were partly supported by USDA's Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) program.

The program, starting its second, 13-episode season, goes beyond the standard cooking show. Travel along as chefs go from kitchen to farm and back again, selecting seasonal, sustainable ingredients for a dish they later prepare. As part of their process, we learn how vital farmer-chef relationships support farmers and local economies, and ensure responsible, environmentally sound farming.

Chefs A' Field (season one) is currently airing on more than 300 stations nationwide and has received critical acclaim and top ratings. Season Two premiers in spring 2005. Check your local listings. If you don't see the program, e-mail your local station manager.

Chefs A' Field was awarded the 2004 James Beard Foundation Award for best national television cooking show and the 2004 CINE Golden Eagle Award. The CINE Golden Eagle Awards recognizes excellence in film and television and are renowned internationally as symbols of the highest production standards in filmmaking.

The educational program has been effective at reaching a broad public on the issues of sustainability and food choices, as Chefs A' Field. Research shows that millions of people are not only watching Chefs A' Field, but also are taking the time and interest to seek out additional information and resources on the series subject matters.

Chefs A' Field is a co-production of Warner Hanson Television and KCTS Television.
