Protecting Water Quality on Organic Farms (Summary)
Protecting Water Quality on Organic Farms (Summary)
While
organic farms tend to have less nitrogen leaching, better nutrient
holding ability, and less runoff and erosion, there can still
be environmental concerns related to organic farming, in the
areas of the transition period from conventional to organic,
in nutrient management planning practices and from improper storage
of manure or compost materials. This publication discusses strategies
for preventing water pollution by addressing those concerns.
